Moscow authorities are deploying full-fledged infrastructure to hire foreign citizens for military service.
Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow and member of the “United Russia” party, announced this.
Recently, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law on simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship.
Now, foreigners who have signed a one-year contract to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be able to obtain citizenship without a long wait or other bureaucratic obstacles.
In Moscow, the Sakharovo migration center has a fast track for solving issues of migrant labor employment.
In the near future, the Moscow government will deploy full-fledged infrastructure at the Sakharovo center to recruit foreign citizens ready to go to military service.
“City services will do everything necessary to ensure that establishing the contracts would be utmost convenient,” said Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.
Previously, foreigners had to serve at least three years under a military contract to obtain Russian citizenship.
Now, Russia is amending this law: the duration of the first contract for the foreigners who are deployed to serve as a soldier, sailor, sergeant, or petty officer is reduced from five years to one.
Russia had already previously, bypassing its own legislation, recruited prisoners for the war in Ukraine.
Recently, a video was released online featuring Yevgeny Prigozhin, owner of the Wagner PMC, personally speaking to the criminals.
Criminals are offered the removal of criminal records after three months of service in units participating in hostilities on Ukrainian territory.
