AERO Vodochody has delivered the first three upgraded L-39 Skyfox aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force.
The transfer ceremony took place at the Kecskemét Air Base with the participation of the representatives of the Hungarian Armed Forces and AERO Vodochody.
The arrival of the first L-39NG Skyfox training aircraft will enhance the country’s capabilities in flight training.
A modern simulation center for pilot training has also been established in Hungary.
The new training center and L-39NG Skyfox aircraft will be integrated into NATO’s flight training program in Europe.
“We are therefore very pleased that the L-39 Skyfox has been chosen as the training platform for the next generation of Hungarian fighter pilots,” said AERO Vodochody.
The Aero L-39 Skyfox aircraft are part of a comprehensive training system that, in addition to the aircraft themselves, includes simulators, ground support systems, and operational support.
To date, three Hungarian flight instructors and sixteen technicians have successfully completed training at the AERO Vodochody base. The pilots have completed nearly 100 training flights, including night and group flights.
Aero Vodochody continues to operate at the Kecskemét base with a team of engineers and specialists providing technical support during the aircraft’s entry into service.
The delivery of the aircraft is part of a contract signed on April 17, 2022, which provides for the delivery of 12 L-39 Skyfox aircraft.
Eight aircraft will be delivered in a training configuration and four in a reconnaissance configuration. The contract also includes the supply of ground equipment, simulators, and training programs.
This year, Vietnam also completed the formation of its fleet of L-39 Skyfox training aircraft from Aero Vodochody.
