French defense company Harmattan AI has unveiled the new long-range IRIFI strike drone, with Morocco set to be its first customer.
Harmattan AI has provided details on the new drone’s specifications.
The IRIFI UAV is designed to deliver high-precision strikes at ranges of up to 2,000 kilometers. The drones will be launched from mobile container-based launchers, allowing for rapid deployment and use in large numbers.
The drone is equipped with an autonomous navigation system that does not rely on GNSS satellite signals, as well as an optical guidance system for the final phase of flight. According to the developer, this ensures resistance to electronic warfare and strike accuracy down to one meter.
Before launch, the operator identifies the target and route, after which the drone autonomously carries out the mission without constant communication with the ground control station.
Harmattan AI positions the IRIFI as a relatively inexpensive means of delivering massive, high-precision strikes. The company has not yet disclosed the warhead’s weight, the drone’s speed, dimensions, or cost.
According to the developers’ plan, a single operator will be able to manage the deployment of dozens of such drones. Artificial intelligence will be used to plan strikes by analyzing satellite imagery. However, the decision to engage targets will remain with a human operator.
The French publication Le Desk reports that on October 7, during the Marrakech Air Show, representatives of the Moroccan Defense Ministry and Harmattan AI signed a letter of intent regarding the procurement, joint development, and production of the IRIFI within the kingdom.
As part of the collaboration, production facilities for the new UAVs are to be established in Morocco. In particular, critical technological components are planned to be developed and manufactured directly in the country with the involvement of local specialists.
At the same time, the signed document is currently a letter of intent, not a final supply contract. The number of drones planned for procurement, the cost of the program, and the timeline for the start of serial production have not been disclosed.
The new program builds on the strategic partnership established in June 2026 between Harmattan AI and the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces. The initial agreements called for the establishment of local production of autonomous defense systems, a research and development center for artificial intelligence, and collaboration with educational institutions.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that in October 2025, Ukraine’s Skyeton and France’s Harmattan AI announced a partnership to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into Raybird drones.
In February 2026, it was also reported that Harmattan AI planned to integrate its compact Sahara synthetic aperture radars into Ukrainian drones. These radars enable reconnaissance even in cloudy and foggy conditions.
