Poland’s Mesko and France’s Eurenco have launched production of modular propelling charges for 155 mm artillery in Poland, Defence24 reported.
In 2024, Mesko signed an agreement with Eurenco to establish an assembly line for modular propelling charges at its Pionki plant.
The French company supplied technology and components, while Mesko manufactures the finished modules using its own powders.
The assembly line started operating on July 25 this year, and the products have passed certification, confirming the required quality standards.
Both companies have now announced the start of serial production. The line’s expected to have a capacity of 100,000 charges per year. Since 4 to 7 charges are typically used to fire a 155 mm shell, the annual output is sufficient for several tens of thousands of rounds.
Mesko is pursuing a strategy of building a full production cycle for 155 mm shells. The company has already started expanding capacity at its Krasnik plant, aiming to produce 150,000 shells per year.
“By creating a strategic partnership with Eurenco, we are entering a new era of the national program to develop independent production of large-caliber artillery ammunition in Poland. We are consistently expanding our capabilities in manufacturing 155 mm ammunition for the Polish Armed Forces to strengthen the country’s position in the international security and defense system,” Renata Gruszczyńska, President of Mesko, stated.
