The Russian Navy has commenced an operational exercise named July Storm.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this.
The drills are taking place across the Baltic Sea, Caspian Sea, Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.
The maneuvers are being conducted under the command of Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, and will continue until July 27.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the purpose of the exercises is to test the readiness of naval formations for unconventional operational tasks, including the use of precision long-range weapons, unmanned systems, and the latest armaments.
In the open sea, ship crews will practice deploying to combat zones, anti-submarine operations, protecting bases and shipping routes, as well as repelling attacks from unmanned boats, UAVs, and enemy aviation.
Strikes against naval formations and land targets are also planned.
The exercises involve more than 15,000 military personnel, 150 ships and support vessels, 120 aircraft, 10 coastal missile systems, and approximately 950 units of military equipment.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Russian-Indian naval exercises INDRA have concluded in the Bay of Bengal.
Indian Navy and Russian Navy ships returned to the Indian port of Chennai to review the results of their joint operations at sea and to hold the official closing ceremony of the exercises.
From the Russian side, the corvettes Rezkiy, Aldar Tsydenzhapov, and the medium sea tanker Pechenga of the Pacific Fleet participated in the exercises.
A Russian Ka-27M helicopter landed on the Indian anti-submarine ship Rana, while the Indian crew of a Chetak helicopter landed on the deck of the Russian corvette.
