Flamingo Missiles Strike Industrial Facility in Samara—It May Have Been the Manufacturer of Soyuz-2 Launch Vehicles

Flamingo cruise missiles struck an industrial complex in Samara, home to the Aviakor and Progress Rocket Space Center, which manufactures Soyuz-2 launch vehicles.

The attack took place on the night of August 15. At approximately 2:51 a.m., a missile alert was issued in the Samara Region, after which local residents reported explosions.

The governor of the Samara Region, Vyacheslav Fedoryshchev, confirmed a strike on one of the region’s industrial facilities but did not specify which facility was targeted.

At this time, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the strike. Aviakor and the Progress Rocket Space Center are located a few hundred meters apart (53.21761147334546, 50.30151107903643) from each other, so based on the published photos and videos, it is impossible to unequivocally determine on which facility’s grounds the missile struck.

OSINT analysis of the Telegram channel Falcon Insight Map indicates that smoke from the strike is rising in the area between AviaKor’s Building No. 106 and the administrative and residential complex (ABK) of Building No. 106.

Building No. 106 is used for large-scale aircraft assembly, docking, and installation of internal systems. Adjacent to it is the A&CS of Building No. 106, which is integrated into the production facility building. It houses the company’s engineering and design departments as well as its administrative services.

Exilenova+ claims that the missile struck the territory of the Progress Rocket Space Center.

According to OSINT data from Varta, this is one of the key enterprises in the Russian rocket and space industry. The company develops and manufactures launch vehicles, including the Soyuz-2 family, as well as spacecraft.

In particular, Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicles are used to launch Rassvet-3 communications satellites, which are developed by the Russian company Bureau 1440.

On March 23, 2026, a Soyuz-2.1b rocket placed 16 satellites of this system into orbit.

Both enterprises are located approximately 850–950 km from Ukraine’s state border. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, no strikes on such industrial enterprises had previously been recorded in Samara.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that on the morning of July 24, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Avitek plant in Kirov, Russia, with Flamingo cruise missiles. The facility is located more than 1,200 km from Ukraine.
