Five Ground Forces “Unmanned” Formations Announce Large-Scale Recruitment

Five drone system units of the Ground Forces have launched an unprecedented recruitment campaign, inviting civilians, service members from other branches, and servicemen who have unlawfully left their military units.

The statement was released by the commanders of the units.

The project, called the “Army Drone Force,” includes separate regiments of the K-2, Achilles, Rarog, Phoenix and Magyar’s Birds brigade.

“Trust the commanders who have created teams from scratch, having split from one crew into separate military units, know their job, care about the safety of personnel and their support,” says the commander of the Magyar’s Birds.

The units guarantee exclusively professional competent use of recruit skills, legal assistance for service members who have unlawfully left their military units, separate conditions and terms of the basic military training, along with professional training and provisioning.

Increasing the capabilities of Ukrainian drone operators

In addition to the Land Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces are actively developing their capabilities.

Recently, Militarnyi reported that the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade was reorganized into an assault brigade of unmanned systems. The changes came into effect on January 3, 2025, which emphasizes the growing role of drones in its structure.

At the same time, the brigade is no longer part of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – as part of the reorganization, it was transferred to the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later, on January 27, it became known that the 9th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 59th Brigade was also reformatted into a separate brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

It is not yet known what tasks the newly formed 9th Brigade will perform, but it is likely that its functions will be similar to the 59th Brigade.

It can also be assumed that the new brigade will be based on units specializing in the use of drones.
