Ukrainian military personnel at the Ministry of Defense have developed Firefly guided munitions for bomber drones.
This was reported by the Brave1 technology cluster.
It is stated that the munition operates effectively at altitudes of up to 800 meters. This eliminates the need to descend for targeting, which previously made Ukrainian UAVs visible and vulnerable to small-arms fire.
After release, the system autonomously calculates the trajectory and corrects the munition’s flight path toward the target, and is also immune to electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures.
Judging by the published video, the new bombs are capable of striking not only “soft” targets but also, when dropped from a sufficient height, of penetrating ceilings and hitting targets in light wood-and-earth shelters.
Firefly munitions have already been tested on Ukraine’s main bomber drones and are ready for mass production.
In March 2026, the Ukrainian company Deftak developed and unveiled guided bombs for drones that use computer vision for target acquisition.
