Egypt has officially opened the Strategic Command Headquarters of the Armed Forces in the country’s new administrative capital.

The opening was accompanied by a large-scale military parade.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi signed the official charter and symbolically pressed a button to raise the national flags over all the buildings of the new headquarters.

The headquarters is located in the center of the country’s new administrative capital—El-Asima el-Jadida—and is the largest facility of its kind in the region.

El-Asima el-Jadida (Arabic for ‘New Capital’) is a city currently under construction in Egypt, approximately 45 km east of Cairo.

The headquarters will serve as a command center for the armed forces and government crisis management agencies.

The complex includes ten octagonal buildings representing various branches of the armed forces and other agencies, as well as command, communications, and data processing centers.

The complex covers a total area of about 90 square kilometers and is divided into 13 functional zones.

The facility is designed as an integrated command center intended to coordinate the actions of the military and government institutions both under normal conditions and during crises.

According to Egyptian authorities, the headquarters is equipped with a multi-layered security system and is designed to operate even under emergency conditions.

The headquarters is a closed military compound and occupies part of the ‘New Capital.’ Separate residential quarters have been built inside, intended exclusively for the families of military personnel, officers, and support staff.

At the same time, concentrating key elements of military command and control within a single complex contradicts the concept of decentralization, since in the event of a large-scale conflict, command structures, communications systems, and control systems could be at risk of simultaneous destruction by a single strike.
