Drones Destroy Two Oil Storage Tanks at Slavyansk-on-Kuban Refinery on September 13

Two oil storage tanks were destroyed in Slavyansk-on-Kuban following a Ukrainian drone attack on September 13.

Satellite images published by the Dnipro Osint Telegram channel appear to show the damage.

The images were taken while one or possibly two oil storage tanks at the facility were on fire.

The images also show visible damage to nearby oil storage tanks.

The strike hit the area containing the facility’s largest oil storage tanks, at the coordinates 45.21738335708323, 38.131425434530414.

The Slavyansk refinery operates under the name Slavyansk ECO and is located directly in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, approximately 69 km northwest of Krasnodar.

The facility is one of the largest independent oil refineries in southern Russia.

The oil refinery’s designed processing capacity is approximately 5.2 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

Actual processing volumes in previous years were lower and, according to open-source estimates, amounted to approximately 3.3–4.1 million tonnes per year.

The refinery is important for fuel supplies to Krasnodar Krai and other regions of southern Russia. The facility does not have its own crude oil production base, so it operates using purchased or tolling feedstock.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukraine launched a record number of strikes on Russian oil refineries in August – at least 21 attacks in a single month.

In August, four of Russia’s ten largest oil refineries came under attack. These facilities supply fuel to some of Russia’s most densely populated and industrially developed regions.
