In Rylsk, a town in Russia’s Kursk region, drones struck a building believed to have housed Russian paratroopers.
According to the Russian Severny Kanal Telegram channel, troops from the 76th Guards Air Assault Division were stationed in the building.
“They chose to hide in a densely populated residential area. The drones entered 30 kilometers deep, and our air defense completely missed them,” the channel reported.
Video footage released on social media shows the moment of the strike and its aftermath.
The building, reportedly a hotel, was hit at around 23:10 local time, causing a fire that spread to a nearby apartment and a car.
In addition to the strike in Rylsk, explosions and a large fire were reported at a railway station near the city of Lgov in the same region.
Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, reported that the fire followed a drone attack.
He said that according to the OSINT technical project, NASA satellites recorded multiple heat signatures at the station. Bratchuk suggested that the scale of the fire indicates the ignition of fuel or ammunition.
Ukraine has not officially confirmed its involvement in the attacks. However, strikes on Russian rear-area infrastructure have become more frequent amid the growing use of kamikaze and FPV drones.
On the night of May 29, a fire was recorded at the Avangard plant in St. Petersburg, which manufactures electronics for Russia’s defense industry.
Satellite imagery also confirmed damage to a production facility at the Kronstadt plant in the Moscow region following a Ukrainian drone strike. The plant produces Orion drones used in the war, and according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, also manufactures the new Russian Banderol cruise missile.
