Strike drones attacked the Saransk Mechanical Plant in the city of Saransk, which manufactures equipment and components for Russia’s defense industry.

Astra reported on this.

The attack on the plant took place during the night of October 22, when local residents recorded the moment of the strike on the facility at the coordinates 54.196328509396665, 45.17491323048603.

According to the official website of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the facility manufactures weapons and ammunition. It is located at least 670 kilometers from the Ukrainian state border, although the actual launches may have been carried out from an even greater distance.

It supplied mines, grenades, anti-personnel engineering munitions, fuzes, and detonators to defense industry enterprises, security agencies, and the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Despite the facility’s direct involvement in supporting the Russian army and its inclusion in the Russian state corporation Rostec, it has not yet been added to the sanctions list of European countries or the United States.

It is worth noting that drones have previously attacked defense-industrial facilities in this city. In April and May, strike drones targeted the facility of Russia’s only manufacturer of fiber-optic cables, which are also used in FPV drones. This facility belongs to the Optic Fiber Systems company and is located in the city of Saransk.
