Denmark has announced its 26th military aid package for Ukraine, with a focus on maintaining F-16 fighter aircraft and enhancing training infrastructure, the Danish government stated.

The package, valued at approximately €562.8 million (DKK 4.2 billion), covers the 2025–2028 period.

It will be funded through Denmark’s Ukraine Fund and reimbursement mechanisms under the European Peace Facility (EPF).

Part of the funding will support the Czech-led initiative for joint procurement of ammunition, while another portion will be used for direct ammunition transfers to Ukraine.

In addition, the package will finance equipment for Ukraine’s Air Force and upgrades to training facilities.

It will also contribute to the training and equipping of Ukrainian brigades under the North-Baltic Initiative.

“Unfortunately, Ukraine’s need for assistance and support has not diminished. I am happy and proud that we can once again allocate funds for donations that will make a difference on the battlefield in both the short and long term. Denmark has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine since the beginning of the war. We will continue to do so in the years to come,” Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted.

The statement stressed that Ukraine’s need for large-scale military support remains critical amid ongoing Russian aggression and will likely continue even in the event of a ceasefire or peace agreement.

The aid package was announced on May 16.

Assistance from Denmark

Denmark has already supplied Ukraine’s Armed Forces with about 20 Caesar self-propelled howitzers, co-financed the purchase of 16 Slovak-made Zuzana self-propelled guns, and transferred an undisclosed number of refurbished M109A3 howitzers.

Denmark has also played a key role in supporting Ukraine’s Air Force, committing to the transfer of F-16s, Stinger man-portable air-defense systems, various anti-aircraft missiles, and other military equipment.

The country was the first to directly purchase Ukrainian-made Bohdana self-propelled howitzers for immediate transfer to the front lines, launching what has since been referred to as the “Danish model” of military support.

Earlier in May, Denmark announced it would allocate €830 million from frozen Russian assets to purchase weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers.

The decision is intended to boost Ukraine’s defense industry, support the national economy, and better tailor weapons to the needs of frontline forces.

Previously, Denmark had allocated DKK 317 million (about €42.5 million) for artillery ammunition procurement for Ukraine.
