Denmark and Norway have agreed on the joint supply of artillery shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Denmark reported on Monday, April 3.

The Danish Ministry of Defense stated to have concluded an agreement with Norway on the transfer of 8,000 shells for 155-mm artillery.

“Ukraine, as before, is in dire need of ammunition for its struggle for freedom against Russia. Together with other countries of the European Union and NATO, Denmark is preparing various military aid. Our cooperation with Norway is an important example of this,” Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said.

As noted, the agreement between the two countries provides for the joint production of ammunition. In Denmark, 155-mm Norwegian artillery shells will be equipped with Danish propellants and detonators in ready-made artillery rounds.

They will then be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counter a full-scale Russian invasion.

According to the assessment of the Danish Ministry of Defense, the ammunition, the transfer of which is provided for by the joint agreement, will be able to use the Danish CAESAR. The Danish parliament decided to transfer 19 such self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine at the beginning of the year.

It is expected that the shells will be transferred together with howitzers.

In March, Denmark announced the allocation to Ukraine of the ninth military aid package with equipment worth €130 million.

The aid package contains, among other things, 5.56 mm small arms cartridges, 12.7 mm heavy machine guns, anti-tank mines, missiles for air defense systems and propellant for 155 mm shells. As previously reported, Ukraine will receive Danish Leopard 1 tanks in the spring.

Last month, Norway sent to Ukraine Leopard 2 tanks and combat engineering vehicles, along with related equipment. These were eight Leopard 2A4NO tanks, two Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles, and two NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn armored engineer vehicles.
