Russia is waging a hybrid war against Denmark and the West, trying to force its allies to stop supporting Ukraine.
This was stated on Friday by Director of the Danish Military Intelligence Service Thomas Ahrenkiel, DR reports.
According to Danish intelligence, Russia uses military means in an aggressive manner, but does not cross the line of open armed conflict.
Arenkiel also explained the Kremlin’s strategic goal.
“Russia wants to create uncertainty and internal disagreements among its allies so that we stop supporting Ukraine and do not make decisions that are contrary to their interests and further harm the Russian economy,” the Danish intelligence chief said.
He added that Russia is using methods against Denmark that would have been “unthinkable” before the full-scale war against Ukraine.
According to Arenkiel, this is how the Kremlin demonstrates military force without direct armed intervention.
Last week, Denmark already faced manifestations of hybrid aggression: six military and civilian airports in the country were temporarily closed due to the appearance of unknown drones.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called the incident a hybrid attack on Denmark.
In this regard, the country’s authorities have imposed a temporary ban on all civilian drones.
