The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine has published new data on the Russian D-30SN precision-guided glide bombs.

In the Components in Weaponry section of the War&Sanctions portal, detailed information about the design of the product is provided, along with a list of 36 companies involved in its production cooperation.

UMPB is a precision-guided glide bomb with an integrated warhead equivalent to the FAB-250.

The internal modules and blocks are similar to those used in the UMPC, particularly the S.M.A.R.T. autopilot module.

The D-30SN can be deployed by aircraft such as the Su-34, Su-30SM, Su-35, Su-24, as well as the S-70 Okhotnik strike drone. The operational range is up to 100 km, provided it is launched from an altitude of 12-15 km.

According to preliminary data, the UMPCs can be launched not only from the air but also from ground platforms – in particular, from the 300-mm Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system using a booster engine.

For operation in electronic warfare conditions, the munition is equipped with the Kometa-M8 navigation system with a controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA), which is already used in other Russian products.

The Russian corporation Tactical Missiles Corporation is the patent holder for the UMPB. The main contractor is JSC Concern Granit-Electron, which is part of the Russian corporation Tactical Missiles Corporation.

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine has established that dozens of companies involved in the production of the D-30SN have longstanding ties to Russia’s military industry. Most of them are already under Western sanctions.

However, the investigation revealed that some manufacturers and component suppliers have not yet been sanctioned. This allows them to maintain access to foreign technologies, equipment, and components.

The list of countries from which components are supplied includes Japan, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Switzerland, and Ireland.

On August 30, 2024, Russian troops fired five UMPB D-30 bombs at Kharkiv from Su-34 strike aircraft.
