The Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated the commander, going by the callsign Amur, of a Kadyrovite UAV unit – the Akhmat Special Forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

This was reported by Apti Alaudinov, the unit’s commander.

“A commander who has passed away! The commander of the UAV heavenly forces with the call sign “Amur”. Rest in peace, brother. To be a warrior is to live forever,” he said.

It is known from open sources that this unit uses FPV drones, including fiber-optic drones, Molniya-2 kamikaze drones and Supercam reconnaissance drones.

As of the end of March 2025, this commander’s unit was operating in the Kursk region, so it is unlikely that the death of Amur was related to the explosion of the Tigr armored vehicle in the vicinity of Melitopol.

On the morning of April 4, the press service of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence reported that the day before, a Tigr armored vehicle of the Russian invaders had exploded on the outskirts of the temporarily occupied Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Inside the car were Kadyrovites, who are part of the Russian occupation contingent in the occupied territories.

“On April 3, 2025, on the outskirts of the temporarily occupied Melitopol, the Zaporizhzhia region, a Tigr armored vehicle of the Russian invaders exploded. There was an enemy crew and a landing party of the occupation unit Vostok-Akhmat inside,” the statement said.

Ukrainian intelligence claims that at least five Kadyrovites were killed in the explosion. No details about the operation, including who or what weapon carried out the explosion, were disclosed.

Kadyrovite units

Since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s large-scale war against Ukraine, the personal army of the Russian supervisor of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has tripled in size.

As of the beginning of 2022, he controlled seven units of nominally Russian Security Forces, and as of December 2024, he already controlled 20 units.

At the last review of the “Security Forces” regularly held by Kadyrov, 25 thousand people were reported to have participated. It is not known for certain whether this number was actually there and whether all of them were the members of the formations under his control.
