Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed agreements on joint production of assault rifles and ammunition.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this following a meeting of the Ukraine and the Czech Republic governments in Prague.
A new cartridge factory will be built in Ukraine within one of these agreements.
A corresponding agreement was signed between the Czech company Sellier & Bellot and the State Company Ukroboronservice.
In addition, Colt CZ Group assault rifles will be produced in Ukraine – a corresponding agreement was signed between Česká zbrojovka and an unnamed Ukrainian company.
During the meeting, they also mentioned the initiative to provide shells for Ukraine – 15 countries have already contributed financially. The first 50 thousand shells have already arrived, and some of them are already on the front line.
This year, 1700 Ukrainians will also undergo military training in the Czech Republic (6,000 military personnel have already undergone training).
Back in 2023, it was reported that the defense industry of Ukraine would cooperate with Czech companies CZUB and Sellier & Bellot.
The Czech arms manufacturer CZUB is engaged in the production of small arms and grenade launchers for them.
Sellier & Bellot supplies its customers with ammunition for firearms.
At the beginning of 2024, it was reported that Czech BREN 2 assault rifles would be assembled at the Ukroboronprom enterprise facilities.
According to him, the Joint-Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry entered into an agreement with the Czech company Česká zbrojovka a.s. regarding the transfer of the license.
