The Czech company Excalibur Army has proposed an extensive modernization of the RM-70 122mm Multiple Launch Rocket System to Greece.
This development was reported by Defence Review.
The upgraded RM-70 Vampire was showcased at the DEFEA 2025 exhibition.
Greece possesses a significant fleet of Czechoslovak RM-70 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, purchased in 1994. At that time, the Greek army received 158 launchers.
The modernization package includes mounting the launchers on a new Tatra 815 chassis.
The cabin will be equipped with modern communication and navigation systems, as well as night vision devices. The launcher and loading system will remain unchanged.
According to the technical specifications, the full complement of 40 rockets can be fired within 20 seconds, and the complete reload can be carried out remotely from the armored cabin in less than three minutes.
Deploying the modernized system takes 60 seconds, while packing up and starting movement takes 1.5 minutes.
The second key component of the upgrade is doubling the firing range thanks to new types of rockets.
The modernization program also entails upgrading a substantial portion of the existing ammunition stockpile, modeled on the successful Serbian G-2000 rocket developed by EDePro, which offers not only extended range but also significantly enhanced target accuracy.
In addition to the fleet modernization, Greece intends to procure 38 Israeli PULS multiple rocket launcher systems, with a total contract value of €500 million.
This figure encompasses ammunition supply, training for Greek artillery personnel, and comprehensive system maintenance.
The agreement is also expected to involve the Greek defense industry, with plans to establish a production line in Greece.
