Croatia plans to hand over special vehicles for mechanized demining to Ukrainian rescuers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this.
Assistance from Croatia was discussed at a meeting between Meri Akopyan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and Anica Djamic, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine.
Akopyan stressed that Ukraine needs assistance to demine the liberated territories.
The Ambassador of Croatia assured that the country is ready to contribute to this process. Therefore, the plan is to spend €3 million on specialized mechanical demining vehicles and other equipment.
Previously, Serhii Haidai, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, shared on assistance to Croatia in demining.
He noted that Croatian specialists will assist in demining the Luhansk region and will hand over special equipment.
As of December 11, the pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service have already destroyed 302,802 explosive objects.
More than 76,000 hectares of land were examined.
The Croatian government was going to deploy its military to train Ukrainian soldiers under the EUMAM Ukraine training mission.
However, the parliament could not pass this decision, as only 97 MPs voted in favor, and 4 votes were not enough for the country to participate in the exercises.
According to opposition MPs, the vote was politically motivated due to sharp differences between Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President Zoran Milanović.
Previously, Milanović refused to give his consent to the participation of Croatian troops in the EU training mission for Ukraine.
