In the United States, confiscated Chinese drones will be used as targets for military shooting drills.
According to Bloomberg, this decision comes in response to modern battlefield threats posed by small kamikaze drones and the need to develop effective countermeasures.
According to the publication, more than 500 small Chinese-made quadcopter drones confiscated by the state of Florida will be handed over to the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM).
They will be used for shotgun training during the three-day competitions next month.
These measures are part of the U.S. military’s efforts to keep up with modern trends in the use of drones and in countering them.
“The competitions aim to spark a heated discussion about how best to defend against hostile drone attacks,” the media reported.
The event will include the use of shotguns in particular, as a last-resort means of defending against hostile drone attacks.
Meanwhile, an even larger number of Chinese-made drones will be used at another USNDA training event next year.
Ukrainian forces also use shotguns and special anti-drone ammunition for assault rifles to combat Russian FPV drones, which are responsible for the most widespread strikes on the battlefield.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense reported that several Ukrainian defense companies are preparing to begin serial production of anti-drone ammunition that has already been codified.
Their distinctive feature is a special warhead that significantly increases the chances of shooting down a small enemy drone.
