The Ukrainian Defense Forces are in need of long-range weapons to fight Russian aggression and liberate the temporarily occupied territories from the invaders.
This was stated by Valeriy Zaluzhny, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in his appeal.
The Commander-in-Chief called on the countries that support Ukraine in confronting Russia’s full-scale aggression.
He also expressed gratitude for the already provided international technical assistance.
“We are grateful for the international technical assistance. At the same time, we are in grave need of samples of weapons that would give the ability to hit the enemy at a long distance,” the General said.
Valeriy Zaluzhnyi stated that the transfer of long-range weapons cannot be delayed “because the cost of delay is measured by the lives of people who are protecting the world from ruscism.”
Previously, on May 23, the second meeting of the Coordination Group for Assistance to Ukraine occurred.
It was divided into three sessions which covered the current situation in Ukraine, the handover of weapons, and priority needs.
As a result of these negotiations, Denmark will be handing over the Harpoon anti-ship missiles and ground launchers for them to Ukraine.
It was also reported that Italy, Greece, Norway, and Poland will hand over the artillery systems to Ukraine. The specific kind of artillery armament mentioned is currently unknown.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that a decision to provide multiple rocket systems would be expected after the second meeting.
Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine had also appealed to the partners to provide Ukraine with weapons and ammunition as soon as possible.
