The Come Back Alive Foundation and the telecommunications company Kyivstar launched the “Let us live here” project.
It aims to collect UAH 175 million to provide transport, equipment, and demining-needed property for 146 engineering and sapper groups that are part of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During a shift, a sapper defuses dozens of explosive objects. With this workload, they need equipment for quick and high-quality demining.
Sappers of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine work both in liberated territories and in locations where active hostilities are taking place.
Ukraine is the most mined country in the world, ahead of Syria and Afghanistan.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine data, about 30% of our territory is contaminated with mines and unexploded ammunition.
“About a third of our territory and all coastal waters need demining. The world has been dealing with similar tasks for decades. That’s why it’s important to act as soon as possible,” says Taras Chmut, Director of the Come Back Alive Foundation.
The tasks of the project include:
Drones and tablets will be needed for aerial photography, recording minefields, and determining the coordinates of dangerous objects.
The Foundation will align the complete list of assistance with the Command of the Support Forces and the military working with them.
“Kyivstar” allocates UAH 20 million for this fundraising campaign and calls on Ukrainians and Ukrainian businesses to support the project. Anyone can make their contribution and send a donation via the project’s website,” says Oleksandr Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.
It is noted that as part of the campaign, you can sign up for a monthly donation or make an individual contribution on the initiative’s website. One could also join by transferring funds to a special Monobank account.
