ComBat Vision Develops Gamified Training Tool for Artillery Crews

Ukrainian company ComBat Vision has developed a specialized tool to introduce gamification elements into artillery fire adjustment.

The developers cite changes in training levels among service members joining the Ukrainian Defense Forces as the reason for these adjustments.

According to the developers, the quality of recruits entering the military is declining rapidly, with some artillery crew members being former “TikTokers” or gamers.

To address this problem, the company’s specialists decided to make the firing and aiming process as visually clear as possible for users. The new tool can visualize a projectile’s flight trajectory based on the firing tables for the relevant weapon system.

The system also displays the dispersion area for a specific weapon type and ammunition. This lets the operator assess the probability of hitting the target and potential deviation in advance.

An important feature of the new module is its ability to warn users of potential obstacles along the calculated projectile trajectory.

The system can also simulate a projectile’s flight after a shot is fired, based on the selected charge’s characteristics. A training error is added to the calculations, allowing users to practice subsequent ranging adjustments.

During operation, the module displays simulated or actual impacts and automatically calculates the mean correction based on a series of hits. This simplifies the analysis of firing results and improves the accuracy of subsequent shots.

Operators can enter the necessary corrections in various ways, including through voice commands, and immediately see the updated result on screen.

This approach makes it easier to demonstrate how indirect-fire weapons work and effectively train service members to adjust artillery fire.

The integrated plugin uses the ballistics model from the UkropSoft MyGun app.

ComBat Vision has previously offered to equip UGVs from Ratel and Tencore LLC with an external compass for UAH 3,500.
