The Captains’ Course training program has already trained more than 800 officers from various branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard.

Yuriy Podlesnyi, Head of Military Education and Training at the Come Back Alive Foundation, reported this on Toronto TV.

According to Podlesnyi, training one set of cadets today costs the Foundation UAH 6-7 million. This includes theoretical training, practical training activities, and related expenses.

The training course currently lasts three months and is aimed at teaching future company commanders the most essential knowledge they will need here and now on the battlefield.

Anton Muraveinyk, Head of the analytical department at Come Back Alive, shared that the course includes the necessary skills of one-man planning, leadership, decision-making knowledge, and field planning practices.

Training during the “Captains' Course”

The training program is constantly updated and supplemented by students and military specialists with the necessary experience in combat zones.

“On average, in every two courses, we not only update the program but also invite experts in each discipline who can give us adjustments to each topic, saying that these specific cases are slightly modified. If we see an increase in the number of REBs used this year, we can use other types of communication. We have increased the tactics of using UAVs: we invite specialists in this area and work out every step together. We can say that we teach what is relevant literally for yesterday, not 2022 or 2004,” Podlesnyi shared.

The “Captains’ Course” was initially created to train officers of the Territorial Defense, but today, all officers of the Defense Forces can join the course.

“When a new recruitment is planned, a telegram is first sent to the command of the military branches. First of all, to the TDF, because they are the main customer, but we simultaneously duplicate this telegram to other military services, which subsequently send us a certain number of personnel. But there are at least three precedents when an officer took the initiative and became our cadet, so you don’t have to wait for your superiors to send you,” the Head of the Military Education Course shared.

In October, Militarnyi reported on the graduation of officers from the Defense Forces, the Army, the Marines, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the National Guard, and the KORD and Liuty units of the National Police.

For three months, the commanders studied planning at the company and battalion headquarters levels in accordance with NATO standards.
