The Russian Federation has received a wide range of cannon and rocket artillery from North Korea (DPRK).
This was reported by the Chief of the Directorate of Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with The War Zone.
It is noted that the Russian troops, in addition to the long-known 170-mm M1989 self-propelled artillery systems, also received 122-mm D-74 trailer guns and 107-mm and 240-mm multiple launch rocket systems.
According to Ukrainian military intelligence, there are currently 120 M1989 units in Russia, and, according to Budanov, the supply will continue.
As for the 240-mm rocket systems, we are probably talking about M1991, the presence of which was confirmed by Russian artillery back in April.
In addition, it is known that the Russians use 300-mm MLRS KN-09, at least one of which was destroyed by an M142 HIMARS strike.
The 107-mm Type 75 MLRS was first spotted in early June and identified by the specific elements of the launcher visible in the photos.
The supply of 122-mm D-74 cannons to Russia has been discussed for a long time – they appeared on the frontline in October 2024.
These guns were produced in small numbers during the Soviet era, mainly for allied countries and at local enterprises under license.
The North Korean origin of the guns is confirmed by the unique pattern of the tires, which are used exclusively on local carriages.
Russian artillery is also known to have 60-mm and 140-mm mortars.
Recently, it was reported that Russia will help North Korea to establish the production of long-range Iranian-origin Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
