The United Kingdom has sent 6 units of Stormer HVM anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom reported about this.

Hundreds of Starstreak missiles for these SAM systems were included in the aid package.

Ben Wallace, the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, first announced the intention to provide Ukraine with British air defense systems on April 25.

The Stormer HVM (High-Velocity Missile) is a short-range air defense system. It is an armored track platform with a Starstreak or Martlet LMM rocket launcher with 8 containers mounted on it. Both types of missiles are already being used as MANPADS by the Ukrainian servicemen against Russia.

It is designed to destroy attack helicopters and low-flying aircraft. This system has been in service of the British Army since 1997. It’s also exported to Oman.

Eight ready-to-fire missiles are stored in the launchers, and up to 12 reload missiles are carried inside the hull.

The vehicle has a roof-mounted panoramic weapon sight and an air defense alerting device for target recognition and prioritization.

The vehicle is operated by a crew of three. The Stormer can move at a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Its maximum range is 600 km.
