British company Rotron Aerospace announced the successful completion of demonstration tests of its new autonomous long-range strike system, SkyLance.

The platform was designed as a relatively low-cost kamikaze drone. It is intended to engage targets at long ranges under conditions of dense air defense and electronic warfare, the company told Militarnyi.

The test results were released immediately after the American company Ondas officially acquired Rotron Aerospace. This deal aims to combine British engineering innovation with long-term financial investment from the US to scale up drone production in the United Kingdom.

Rotron’s proprietary engine technology provides a significant increase in the SkyLance’s range, endurance, and efficiency compared to conventional turbine or piston-powered counterparts.

“The successful demonstration of the SkyLance confirms our ability to deliver long range and cost-effectiveness for modern combat conditions. Thanks to our partnership with Ondas, we are accelerating development, production, and delivery to meet growing demand in the UK and allied markets,” said Rotron CEO Alex Head.

As a reminder, the German company Quantum Systems signed a memorandum of understanding with the technology group Rohde & Schwarz regarding cooperation in the field of electronic warfare and counter-drone measures.

As part of the partnership, the parties plan to integrate Rohde & Schwarz’s SIGINT systems and electronic warfare capabilities into Quantum Systems’ unmanned platforms.
