The US military will arrive in Armenia for the EAGLE PARTNER 2024 joint exercise.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said that the exercises would be held from July 15 to 24 in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions.

The exercise will be attended by servicemen from the Armenian Army Peacekeeping Brigade, the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa, and the Kansas National Guard.

“The purpose of the exercises is to increase the level of coordination of units, exchange best practices in the field of management and tactical communication, as well as increase the combat capability of the Armenian unit,” the Defense Ministry said.

Armenia, which is still Russia’s partner in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), is to gain experience in conducting operations to stabilize relations between conflicting parties.

In 2023, about 85 American soldiers and about 175 Armenian soldiers took part in the exercises.

Russia has reacted negatively to these joint military exercises in Armenia with the United States and has expressed “concern” several times.

Last year, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Armenia’s decision not to conduct exercises with the CSTO and to work with the United States had instead required “very deep analysis.”

At the same time, the United States has postponed joint military exercises with Georgia “indefinitely.” The decision was made as part of a “review of bilateral relations.”

The military exercises were scheduled to take place in Georgia from July 25 to August 6.

The revision comes after Georgia passed a law on “foreign agents” on June 3 that drew criticism in the West over fears that the document would suppress independent media and freedom of speech.

The Pentagon said in a statement that the decision to postpone the exercise, scheduled for July 25 to August 6, was due to “false allegations” against the United States and other Western organizations following US criticism of the law and its sanctions against some Georgian officials.
