The Ukrainian military in the Donetsk region destroyed the Russian Tyulpan 240mm self-propelled mortar.

The Balu HUB Telegram channel released a video of the destruction of the invaders’ equipment.

It is reported that the military of the 79th Air Assault Brigade and the 55th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the self-propelled mortar.

The Russian Tyulpan 240mm was spotted and neutralized near Maryinka in the Donetsk region.

The Russian invaders deployed the firing position of their self-propelled mortar among the trees near the slagheap. A Ukrainian UAV monitored the movement of enemy equipment.

Aerial reconnaissance transmitted the coordinates of the target to the gunners, and they opened fire on the enemy position.

The video captures the moment when, after the Ukrainian defenders’ accurate actions, a Russian mortar catches fire and, after a few seconds of burning, an explosion occurs – probably due to the detonation of a 240-mm mine fired by the Tyulpan.

After that, the combustion of the self-propelled mortar continued. Such a powerful explosion most likely caused the complete destruction of the vehicle.

Previously, the Ukrainian military had already destroyed and disabled Russian 2S4 Tyulpan heavy self-propelled mortars. One of these cases occurred in early March in Donbas.

2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled mortar is designed to destroy the most fortified positions. The mortar is mounted to the beams on the upper aft sheet of the hull of the 2S4 tracked chassis by the base plate frame.

The hydraulic system is used for guidance in the vertical plane (sight setting) and loading the mortar.

The main ammunition of the 2B8 mortar includes 53-F-864 high-explosive mortar rounds with a maximum range of 9.65 km and 3F2 rocket-assisted mortar rounds with a maximum range of 19.69 km.
