An unidentified naval drone with a powerful warhead was discovered off the Romanian coast in the Black Sea.
It is alleged that Cyrillic letters were found on the naval drone, which may indicate Russian or Ukrainian origin.
First, two days ago, Romanian border guards spotted an overturned boat in the sea near the village of Tuzla.
A vessel of the Romanian maritime search and rescue was called to the scene and towed the finding to the port of Constanta, where it was examined by specialists from various services.
Sources familiar with the investigation said that it was a former search and rescue boat weighing about 3 tons that had been converted for some military purposes.
An antenna for jamming signals was found in the bow of the boat, and an explosive device could have been attached nearby.
The boat was taken to a Capu Midia Training Range and then blown up.
After the planned explosion, local residents were frightened, and a strong shock wave was felt by all residents of the area. Army officials confirmed that it was the result of a naval drone explosion.
“The explosion was so strong that the sound wave reached Constanta,” Romanian media reported.
Such an explosion may indicate that the drone had a powerful warhead.
This drone resembles a rigid inflatable boat (RIB), probably designed for rescue operations (the red color of the rescue boats is partially preserved), repurposed as an unmanned surface vessel with a powerful warhead.
To recap, in 2023, the Russian company KMZ unveiled the Oduvanchik naval drone, which is designed, according to a design, similar to Ukrainian drones.
