Citizens of Kolomna, Moscow Oblast, reported a loud explosion heard throughout the city.
This is reported by local Telegram channels.
A local telegram channel posted footage from an outdoor surveillance camera. According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred at 21:30 near one of the neighboring villages.
The press service of the administration of the Kolomna city district reported that the details are currently unknown.
“Law enforcement officers and rescuers went to the place,” the press service said.
Another local resident captured on video the night sky roaring from the fire that started after the explosion. The author of the video claims the sound of whistles preceding the explosion may indicate the sound of the jet engine, which is equipped with the Soviet Tu-141 Strizh UAV.
It is known that along with Kolomna, to the south of the city is an ammunition depot (military unit 63184), and to the southeast is a Lukhovitsy-3 strategic military communications facility.
The Unmanned Aviation Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is located in Kolomna. This Center is responsible for the use of UAVs in law enforcement agencies and civilian departments, the training of specialists for UAV units, as well as for military drone tests.
The Militarny reported that two days earlier, on February 28, a drone fell near the village of Gubastovo in the Kolomensky district. He fell a hundred meters from the Voskresensk gas compressor station.
The invaders said that the wreckage of the drone and its markings indicate that it was a UJ-22 Airborne UAV manufactured by the Ukrainian Ukrjet company.
The maximum range of the UAV declared by the manufacturer is 800 km, it reaches a speed of up to 160 km per hour, can fly at an altitude of up to 6 km and carry a payload of up to 20 kg.
