A North Korean-made Type 75 multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) has been destroyed by an FPV drone operated by Ukraine’s 429th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems, known as Achilles, the unit’s commander said in a post on social media.
Footage released by the unit suggests the strike was executed using a fiber-optic-guided drone, as indicated by the stable signal in low-altitude flight over forested terrain, where radio interference is typically an issue.
The drone hit the launcher’s rocket guides directly.
At least four rockets appeared to be loaded at the time of the strike. One of the missiles was seen leaving the launcher following the impact, which triggered a detonation.
According to the War Archive project, the strike took place near the village of Lyman Pershyi in the Kharkiv region.
This marks the second publicly confirmed destruction of a North Korean Type 75 MLRS in Ukraine. The first took place on July 12, when troops from the 1st Storm Separate Presidential Brigade destroyed one in the Kupiansk sector using a reconnaissance drone, followed by a strike drone.
The 107 mm Type 75 system is a North Korean copy of the Chinese Type 63 MLRS. The system comes in various configurations, with trailer-mounted versions featuring 12 launch tubes, and self-propelled or ship-mounted variants equipped with up to 16, 24, or 27 tubes.
Ammunition includes two types of rockets: the high-explosive fragmentation MLRS-107-OF (“파지-921”) and the cluster version MLRS-107-E (“107 산포”), which contains 15 submunitions.
The system’s maximum range is 8.6 km.
