The Ukrainian Air Force performed a high-precision strike with AASM HAMMER guided bombs on a concentration of Russian attack aircraft in the village of Guevo, the Kursk region of Russia.
Footage of the strike was published by the Sonyashnyk Telegram channel, which is linked to Ukrainian aviation.
The operation was reportedly carried out by a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet adapted to deploy Western-made precision-guided munitions.
The AASM guidance kit converts conventional unguided bombs into precision weapons.
It includes a front-mounted guidance module and rear-mounted rocket booster, extending the bomb’s range.
The system functions similarly to the U.S.-made JDAM.
France has two variants in service: the Hammer-250 for Mk.82 (227 kg) bombs and the Hammer-1000 for Mk.84 (908 kg) bombs.
The guidance module can be configured for inertial navigation with GPS correction, thermal imaging homing, or laser guidance.
Currently, Russia continues its offensive in the Kursk region. The village of Guevo in the Kursk region is located near the border with Ukraine and is under the control of the Ukrainian military.
Russian troops are reportedly conducting offensive operations in this area, including to the southwest of Sudzha.
“Unfortunately, the enemy has managed to take up positions in the buildings—likely in the northern part of the village. Ukrainian forces were recently observed in the southern area,” analysts from WarArchive wrote, identifying the strike location.
Russian invaders have also been seen using all-terrain vehicles in efforts to capture settlements along the border with Ukraine’s Sumy region.
