SSU counter-intelligence detained a resident of the city of Beryslav (Kherson region), who actively cooperated with the occupation authorities.

The law enforcement officers established that she was handing over lists of ATO veterans and other citizens who resisted the occupation, to the invaders.

The enemy used this information to search the homes of local residents and detain them. Illegally detained people were required to make ‘confessions’ in fabricated cases. In case of refusal, invaders tortured and threatened to kill them.

In addition, the woman helped the enemy navigate the area and showed the shortest routes to settlements in the area to facilitate the occupation of the territories by the Russians.

It is also known that the detainee assisted in “housing” the Russian soldiers in the homes of Ukrainians who had left the occupied territory, and offered to use three of her own garage premises to hide Russian equipment and weapons.

After the liberation of the Kherson region, the woman tried to flee abroad to avoid justice, but she was detained on the territory of the Vinnytsia region.

The SSU emphasized that the woman was detained near one of the critical infrastructure facilities.

During the search, the SSU found a mobile phone containing evidence of her communication with occupation authorities.

She was notified of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111(high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.

The pre-trial investigation to establish all the circumstances of the criminal activity is ongoing.

As previously reported, recently, the Deputy Mayor of Kherson was detained. He had been cooperating with the occupation authorities and helped organize an illegal “referendum” on the accession of the Kherson region to the Russian Federation.
