A Russian agent who was assisting the invaders to carry out repeated attacks on infrastructure facilities was detained in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The SSU press service reported about this.
Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a man in the front-line areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. He was adjusting missile strikes against the region’s critical infrastructure and was aiming Russian weapons at energy facilities and other life support systems.
The investigation established that after the Russian air strikes, the man would go to the affected areas to record the consequences of the hits and pass this information to the enemy. Invaders needed this data to plan further attacks on the city.
The agent was also gathering intelligence on temporary bases and the movement of Ukrainian military equipment in Zaporizhzhia.
The SSU emphasized that he was passing collected information to the aggressor through social media, including the Telegram channel of a traitor and Kremlin propagandist Volodymyr Rogov.
Rogov is a Kremlin propagandist who actively cooperates with the occupation authorities. He even calls himself a “member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporizhzhia region” and declares himself “the mayor of Melitopol.” The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized that he was the one who disclosed classified information about Ukrainian objects in the form of “marked” electronic maps.
The detainee is an employee of one of the Ukrainian defense plants. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was recruited by the special services of the Russian Federation to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage in the south of Ukraine.
The man came under Russian special services’ radar due to his pro-russian ‘activity’ in social networks, where he was offered confidential cooperation. As a reward, russians guaranteed him money and a ‘job position’ if the Zaporizhzhia region were to be captured.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone and computer equipment with evidence of his communication with the Russian ‘supervisor’.
The detainee was informed of the suspicion. The court chose keeping in custody as a measure of prevention for the suspect.
As previously reported, the Security Service of Ukraine detained traitors who joined the invader “Department of Execution of Punishments of the Kherson Region”.
