Ukraine has received a request for the export of the Delta national combat information system from one of the NATO partner countries.

Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization, announced this on Army TV.

The export request was received for the Delta digital situational awareness system, which the military uses to communicate, inform adjacent units and senior command, and coordinate actions on the front line.

We are now in the process of creating a model for exporting this system. It may be approaches to granting licenses, there are several licensing models,” the Deputy Minister shared.

She noted that it would be an intergovernmental agreement, indicating the intention to integrate the Ukrainian system into the unnamed country’s military. Delta has already been tested for compatibility with NATO systems as part of the CWIX exercise.

Advantages of the Ukrainian Delta

DELTA is a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates several key modules, including secure chat and Deltamonitor, a digital map that displays the locations of both your own and enemy forces in real-time. It can be deployed on a soldier’s computer or tablet.

In addition, the system integrates Vezha, a battlefield video analysis platform for broadcasting live video from drones, as well as the Target Hub module for planning and managing the fire of units, which allows you to create and assign targets and share them on a digital map.

Recently, the system also received the Mission Control module, which enabled effective interaction between unmanned systems operators and higher headquarters, allowing for the allocation of areas of responsibility, planning of crew routes, and coordination of UAV tasks with electronic warfare and air defense units.

We have created modules that have never been used in NATO before. Because no one has ever had such high-tech wars on the territory. For example, no one has fought with so many drones and had to plan drone flights and crews,” Yelyzaveta Boyko, Lieutenant Colonel of the Defense Ministry’s Center for Innovation and head of one of the DELTA system development departments, stated.

Yelyzaveta Boyko explained that the Ukrainian system was created during the war with Russia on the basis of new technologies, which made it a convenient and effective tool for modern warfare.

Partner countries developed such systems in the 1990s and continued to develop them until now. In fact, these are old systems that require a huge amount of resources, both monetary and human, to maintain and update. No one is ready to spend a lot of money to create a new system,” Yelyzaveta Boyko notes.

The Center for Innovation and Development of Defense Technologies of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine developed the system and put it into operation for all units of the security and defense sector of Ukraine in August 2024.
