Ukrainian military showed the destruction of a Russian tank with a US anti-tank system.
The operation was carried out by fighters of the 93rd Independent Kholodnyi Yar Mechanized Brigade.
The fighters used the US-made Javelin ATGM against the Т-80BV main battle tank.
The Ukrainian military released spectacular footage of the destruction of enemy military equipment.
A missile of the anti-tank system hit the rear part of the tank, probably the target of the missile was the engine of the vehicle.
The Javelin system offers two attack modes: a top attack and a direct attack flight.
Due to the ability to attack from above, Javelin missiles can hit armored vehicles in a turret that is less protected compared to the forehead and sides.
After launch, the rocket rises to a height of 160 m and remains at this altitude until it approaches the target at the required distance and attacks at an acute angle from above.
In direct attack mode, the missile flies along an inclined trajectory. For a target at a distance of 2000 m, the rocket first rises to an altitude of 60 m and from there flies almost straight towards the target.
This mode is designed to hit armored vehicles in the sides, frontal projection, and hung helicopters. The minimum distance to the target is 65 m.
The propulsion engine has enough energy for the missile to reach the specified target. However, it completely burns out at a distance of 850 m.
The first models of missiles had an effective target range of about 2 km, which was improved to 2.5 km in the next versions. The missile is able to fly to a distance of 4… 4.5 km, but here hitting the target is no longer guaranteed.
