20-km Interceptor: Destinus Unveils Vorexon Anti-Aircraft Missile

The European company Destinus has unveiled its new Vorexon anti-aircraft guided missile.

The weapon was developed to engage a wide range of air targets at short and medium ranges, according to the company’s website. According to Tomasz Kwasek, a contributor to Portal Militarny and NowaTechnikaWojskowa, production of the missile will begin in 2028.

The Vorexon is positioned as a high-speed interceptor designed to protect facilities from rocket artillery and supersonic targets.

The missile is capable of destroying targets at ranges exceeding 20 km. The interceptor’s maximum flight speed exceeds Mach 2.

The Vorexon is equipped with an active radar homing seeker capable of mid-course trajectory correction.

During the terminal phase, guidance can be controlled by an operator.

The missile is launched from a transport-launch container. The launcher can be mounted on either a wheeled or tracked chassis, or used in a stationary configuration.

The short-range missile configuration provides autonomous point defense through launch into a designated sector and autonomous homing, reducing dependence on individual radars.

At medium range, guidance is based on radar data, and target selection is carried out on the operator’s command.

As previously reported, following the successful deployment of the Destinus-manufactured Ruta cruise missile against a maritime platform in the fall of 2025, the Russians confirmed a new strike using this weapon.

After analyzing the debris, Militarnyi confirms that it matches the Ruta Block 1 missile variant.

Comparing it with available photographs of the Ruta Block 1 cruise missile, characteristic structural similarities between the missile and the debris may be visible.
