Ukrainian company Inguar Defence has developed a new armored vehicle, the Inguar-4, built on a custom three-axle chassis designed to serve as a platform for various specialized vehicles.
Artem Yushchuk, the company’s co-founder and CEO, shared this in the Militarnyi podcast.
The Inguar-4 is based on the original frame chassis of the Inguar-3, which has been lengthened and upgraded with an additional axle featuring independent suspension.
“The additional axle significantly improves off-road capability and payload capacity. Our vehicle can serve as a platform for virtually any system. It can be used as a tractor, a carrier for heavy weapons, or a recovery vehicle for damaged equipment,” the company’s CEO shared.
At the time of publication, the company had already produced several chassis for use as armored recovery vehicles. Along with a four-door armored cab, they will receive a hydraulic system for evacuating damaged equipment from the battlefield, as well as other specialized equipment.
According to the developers, the Inguar-4 chassis and its recovery system will be capable of transporting the 15-ton Inguar-3 and most common military vehicles, including the International MaxxPro, vehicles from the Novator and Kozak families, as well as tracked M113 carriers.
The Inguar-3 and Inguar-4 vehicles differ significantly from most models on the Ukrainian market due to their use of a proprietary chassis developed specifically to meet the demands and loads of military vehicles. The chassis production is almost entirely localized in Ukraine.
“As for what has already been localized in Ukraine, let’s start with the most important component – the frame. We manufacture it ourselves. We purchase tubing, which is cut using a laser tube cutter, then assembled on jigs and welded into a single structure. We install the necessary bushings and crossmembers, arranging the tubes in the required configuration.
Suspension modules of our own production are mounted onto the finished frame, including the subframe, semi-subframe, steering arms, upper and lower control arms, other mounting elements, and knuckles.
We also manufacture everything related to rubber components, springs, stabilizers, as well as all elements of the fuel and pneumatic systems, and hydraulics.
The only suspension component we do not produce is the gearboxes. Their production requires high-precision metalworking equipment costing millions of dollars, so this stage is still in progress. However, I can say that our next vehicle will already feature gearboxes of our own production,” Artem Yushchuk noted.
It is expected that the Inguar-4, in its basic configuration, without specialized equipment, will cost around $500,000. At the same time, the two-axle armored vehicle is already being supplied to the military for about $420,000.
