Military gathering announced in Transnistria

A military gathering is announced in the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which is located in the uncontrolled part of the Republic of Moldova.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense of the self-proclaimed republic reported about this.

“The peacekeeping contingent of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic continues to accept applications for participation in the regular three-month meetings from March 1, [2023]” the statement on the department’s website says.

It is noted that men under the age of 55 can participate in the military gathering. They are guaranteed “financial and material security, accommodation and food”. Cash support for unemployed citizens is promised from 2,800 “Transnistria rubles”.

A similar action by illegal paramilitary formations in cooperation with a contingent of Russian troops may be a continuation of Russian incitement of the situation around the borders of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the situation around the unrecognized republic and its borders with Ukraine is in constant tension due to the threat of provocations.

In the capital of the unrecognized republic, on April 25, at about 5:45 p.m, the offices of the local “Ministry of State Security” and the branch of the Russian Federal Security Service in the “Transnistrian” region were fired upon.

The next day, April 26, 2022, a series of explosions took place in the village of Mayak. The unknown individuals had blown up two of the most powerful radio towers that were out of order. Both were being used to rebroadcast Russian radio.

The leader of unrecognized Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, blamed Ukraine for the terrorist attacks. He said this in his video address.

Instead, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that the aforementioned terrorist attacks are part of a series of provocative actions organized by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation to incite panic and anti-Ukrainian sentiments.

According to the authors’ plan, they should justify the war on the territory of Ukraine, or involve Transnistria in hostilities.
