The United States has made a preliminary decision to supply M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS missile launchers to Ukraine.

The Wall Street Journal reported about this.

The publication refers to the statements of American high-ranking officials, which they made on condition of anonymity in a comment to journalists.

It is reported that the U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration could announce the decision to supply Ukraine with multiple rocket launchers (MLRS and Himars) as soon as next week.

According to one official, these systems will be on the territory of Ukraine in a few weeks.

It will take at least another week to train the Ukrainian servicemen to use these weapons.

According to Politico, the Biden administration considers providing launchers only with ammunition that would allow them to be used as multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) and not as operational-tactical missile systems.

The range of these munitions goes from 30 to 70 kilometers.

It is noted that the Ukrainian military leadership spent several weeks persuading American partners to agree to provide these weapons systems.

The M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) mounts on a 6-wheeled M1140 FMTV truck frame.

M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) is a multifunctional system on a crawler chassis, which can be used both as multiple rocket launcher and operational-tactical missile system.
