US Will Give Up Deterring China – Strategy Draft From Infamous Colby

The draft of the new National Defense Strategy of the United States of America refers to the abandonment of the traditional policy of containing China’s expansion in recent decades.

This is reported by Politico, whose journalists had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the document.

The strategy’s developers propose to focus on the United States’ own security and limit its ambitions to influencing processes in the Western Hemisphere.

Abandoning the main task of countering Beijing and Moscow would mean a fundamental change in the policy of American administrations in the twenty-first century.

The document is currently under review by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

The author of the draft strategy is Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby.

Focusing on the Western Hemisphere instead of countering China contradicts Colby’s previous views.

The American official had a reputation as an ‘anti-China hawk’ and consistently advocated concentrating all US efforts on rivalry with China. At the same time, as an ideological isolationist, Colby promoted the US abandonment of attempts to counter Russia in Europe.

These views of the American ultra-conservative statesman also explained his initiative to stop supplying Ukraine with arms under the already agreed military aid packages.

The proposals in the draft US National Defense Strategy have actually begun to be implemented in recent months.
