The US Department of War has signed a contract with Textron Systems for the delivery of a new batch of MSFV armored vehicles to Ukraine.
The Defence Blog reported on this.
Under this contract, Ukraine will receive not only the armored vehicles but also spare parts, specialized tools, and testing equipment.
The contract completion date is scheduled for November 30, 2028.
According to the official procurement portal of the United States Armed Forces, Ukraine will receive 65 MSFV armored vehicles.
Production and delivery will take place over the course of three years.
Funding is provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program.
The MSFV armored vehicle is an improved version of the M1117 armored personnel carrier, which is already in use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new vehicles feature enhanced crew protection, increased interior space, and improved mine resistance.
Unlike the base model, the MSFV was specifically developed for the Afghan military, taking into account the need for light, mobile, and survivable equipment. The vehicle’s hull was lengthened, and the design adapted for operations in mine-threatened areas.
The MSFV’s armament may include the M2 Browning machine gun, the Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher, as well as M240 and M249 machine guns. There are variants with open turrets, as well as medical modifications for evacuating the wounded.
Despite its advantages, the open turrets of the MSFV remain vulnerable to kamikaze drone attacks.
M1117 armored personnel carriers were first seen in Ukraine in March 2024, then in service with the 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment.
Militarnyi previously reported that the US government approved a new package of military aid for Ukraine in September 2025, which will be delivered soon.
