The operators of the Unmanned Systems Forces, together with paratroopers, identified and struck three enemy Buk air defense systems in the Kursk region over 12 hours.
The press service of the Unmanned Systems Forces reported on this.
In the Kursk region, the operators of the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion “RAID”, in cooperation with the 78th Air Assault Regiment’s 3rd “Dzhmil” Consolidated UAS Detachment, identified and struck three Russian Buk air defense systems of different modifications over 12 hours.
The FPV drone crews successfully disabled a Buk-M2 launcher disguised in a forest belt, hitting the driver’s compartment, and then struck a container with an anti-aircraft missile with a second drone, causing an explosion and complete destruction of the vehicle.
Additionally, the operators of the 413th Battalion hit two Buk-M3 launchers, damaging their radars. Although the vehicles were not destroyed, the damaged radars will keep them out of action for an extended period until they are repaired.
The destruction of three Buk air defense systems in one day is a significant event, as since the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have destroyed three more vehicles of this type.
The exact location of the UAV operators’ combat operations is not disclosed, but two months earlier, the crews of the 78th Air Assault Regiment were covering the operations of the Ukrainian military group to the west of Sudzha.
The paratroopers distinguished themselves with high-quality remote mining in front of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions on the Russian-Ukrainian border, which disrupted a mechanized offensive: the enemy assault group, traveling in several armored vehicles, failed to reach the Ukrainian positions, as they were blown up by mines.
Notably, the soldiers of the 78th Air Assault Regiment used Russian engineering obstacles to their advantage, additionally placing PTM-3 anti-tank mines on the approaches with the help of drones.
Since the beginning of the year, in addition to the aforementioned Buk systems, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have also destroyed or damaged three Strela-10 systems, as well as one Osa-AKM and one Tor-M2 system each.
It is worth noting that the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Navy have unmanned specialized drone carriers, whose raids have already caused significant losses to Russian air defense systems and radars located near the Black Sea coast. In particular, drones from these carriers hit several systems, including Pantsir-S1, Osa, and Tor.
In addition to the air defense systems, the strike drones launched from the drone carriers also hit several enemy speedboats and an Mi-8 helicopter.
