Soldiers from the Black Forest artillery reconnaissance brigade located a Russian Zoopark-1M radar and directed drones to strike it.
The brigade released video of the strike on its social media accounts.
The radar vehicle was spotted in a forest belt. The exact time and location were not disclosed. A drone then struck the target.
Video footage shows a fixed-wing kamikaze drone used in the strike.
The drone type remains unknown, but the footage suggests it uses automated terminal guidance.
A marker was placed on the target, which the drone followed. The drone continued the attack after losing communication during the dive, indicating onboard guidance.
The initial strike failed to disable the radar. A drone bomber of the Lasar’s Group unit of the National Guard carried out a follow-up strike.
It remains unclear whether the system was destroyed. The munition hit near the folded antenna module, which may have sustained critical damage.
1L260 Zoopark-1M is a Russian counter-battery radar system developed by the Tula-based Strela design bureau and first unveiled in 2013. The system uses a phased-array antenna.
It detects artillery and rocket launch positions by tracking projectiles in flight. It can also support fire correction for friendly artillery.
According to the manufacturer, the system detects 152/155 mm howitzers at ranges up to 23 km with an error margin of about 40 m, and multiple launch rocket systems at up to 45 km with an error of about 50 m.
The system operates with a crew of three: a driver, a radar operator and a commander.
