An unidentified drone crashed near a weapons storage facility on the grounds of an intelligence military unit near the Polish city of Przasnysz.
Wiadomości reported on this.
The site belongs to the 2nd Radio-Electronic Center, a specialized unit responsible for military intelligence and electronic warfare.
The unit is responsible for gathering intelligence and monitoring the radio spectrum in northeastern Poland, including the strategically important Suwałki Gap.
According to reports, on January 28, the duty service detected a drone flying over the unit’s territory. The aircraft later crashed onto the base, approximately 70 meters from a weapons storage facility.
After an initial inspection, the servicemen on guard moved the drone into one of the buildings.
The military gendarmerie unit in Przasnysz received a report of the incident at around 6:00 p.m. and immediately began procedural actions.
The gendarmerie immediately seized the drone wreckage, and witness interviews began at 7:30 p.m.
If the drone operator is identified, they could face a prison sentence of up to five years.
Recently, Polish radar stations once again detected air balloons entering Polish airspace from the territory of Belarus.
On the night of January 31 to February 1, the Belarusian side likely conducted reconnaissance and tested the response of Poland’s air defense systems.
These are not the first such incidents. In particular, on the night of January 28, aerial objects crossed from Belarus into Poland and were later partially identified as smuggling air balloons.
Overall, the armed forces of Poland and Lithuania are recording a sharp increase in the activity of small drones and air balloons launched from Belarusian territory.
