The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian Buk SAM system in the Belgorod region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, released the video of the attack on social media.
The footage shows Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance using a drone to detect a Russian missile system in a field.
The Russian air defense system was in a staging position while moving before deployment.
It is unclear from the video what kind of weapon hit the Buk system. It could have been either a kamikaze drone or a precision-guided missile from the US HIMARS rocket system.
After the hit, the solid-fuel engines of the anti-aircraft missiles caught fire in the SAM system, and the flames actually destroyed the gun. It is possible that the Russian air defense system’s maintenance crew was also injured.
Observers who monitor the course of hostilities in the Russian-Ukrainian war have determined that a fire launcher of the invaders’ air defense system was detected and destroyed near the village of Nechaievka in the Belgorod region.
Recently, the Russian invasion forces have been suffering significant losses in air defense systems, which are actively destroying the Ukrainian Defense Forces, mainly in the temporarily occupied territories of the Eastern Ukraine and Crimea.
This applies to both the army air defense systems and the long-range S-300 and S-400 systems of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
In particular, the SSU drones hit 8 different air defense systems of the Russian invaders. The Tor-M2, Pantsir-S1 and Buk systems were hit.
These drones are likely to be equipped with a targeting system that allows them to hit a specific object more accurately.
Ukrainian soldiers adjusted their strikes with the help of a reconnaissance drone that tracked the movement of Russian air defense systems.
