Paratroopers of the Ukraine’s 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade drove Russian troops out of the village of Zolotyi Kolodyaz in the Donetsk region, the brigade’s 3rd battalion press service reported.
A video released by the unit shows the battle. Due to coordinated actions and determination, Ukrainian forces repelled another Russian offensive.
Enemy units suffered heavy losses and retreated.
The paratroopers also repelled an attempted breakthrough in the Dobropillya area, preventing Russian forces from advancing further. Stabilization measures are ongoing.
Recently, units of the 93rd Kholodny Yar Separate Mechanized Brigade recaptured the villages of Hruzke and Vesele, which Russian troops had taken during their breakthrough. Reconnaissance, drones and artillery played a key role, inflicting significant losses.
The Russian breakthrough began on August 8, when enemy forces advanced about 15 km on a narrow sector of the front. From the Kucheriv Yar area they entered Vesele, where they began concentrating troops — around 20 soldiers were observed in one day.
At the same time, Russian troops attempted to expand their offensive toward the Dobropillya–Kramatorsk highway, reaching the areas of Novovodyane and Petrivka.
Ukrainian Defense Forces then deployed reserves, cutting off the breakthrough corridor and halting further Russian advance. Members of the First Corps of the Azov National Guard Corps, together with attached units, not only held the line but also surrounded several Russian assault groups.
Previously, servicemen of the 93rd Brigade captured four soldiers of Russia’s 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade (military unit 52892). The prisoners, aged 20–28, confirmed their affiliation during interrogation.
