The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has completed the first stage of implementation of an automated defense resource management system based on System Analysis Program Development (SAP) in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
SAP is a leading international resource management system used by 28 NATO countries.
The system automates delivery processes, generates information about current stock levels and applications, facilitates real-time monitoring of actual needs, streamlines the procurement process, and ensures timely supply of all essential items to the army.
“The priority of the Ministry of Defense is the introduction of automated systems and the abandonment of paper processes. SAP will help us to ensure the most modern process of defense resource management,” Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernohorenko said at a meeting with partners.
Automation began with the accounting of property, due to which the processes and equipment in one of the operational level support centers, which unites a large number of military units, were completely updated.
The SAP also helped to automate control over the supply and accounting of weapons and military equipment at the main bases. This automation extends to managing spare parts for equipment obtained through international technical assistance, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in inventory management.
“In order for the system to work everywhere, warehouse workers are already adapted and trained. The result of the final introduction of the system should be a complete automation of logistics processes and a full-fledged refusal of paper workflow in logistics operations,” concluded Oksana Ferchuk, Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization.
It is planned to record property in all warehouses and military units working with the SAP system by the end of 2024. They are also completely modernized.
On November 17, Militarnyi reported about the start of this system’s work in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Due to the new system, the Ministry of Defense has accelerated the processing of applications for supply from brigades from several weeks to 2-3 days. Previously, this process could last for a month.
Both military separate units and operational commands, storage depots, and logistics force commands have access to the system for orders and monitoring of residues.
